Connecticut College's Arboretum occupies 750 acres of land, comprising an array of biospheres ranging from meadows to wetlands to forests. Students of the college use this scenic resource to study botany, biology and environmental studies, while other visitors enjoy hiking or running its trails, viewing ornamental trees and shrubs, giant rhododendron plants, epiphytes and orchids, and many more beautiful and exotic plants. It lies a few miles north of downtown, next to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
